Her guard comes down a bit, but big deal. She is someone who does what she wants when she wants regardless of anyone's feelings. All she has to do is give a little disclaimer about not wanting to get too serious then that gives her permission to play hot and cold and be emotionally manipulative. She is not at all introspective and never really explained anything to Tom and didn't apologize for maybe misleading him a bit with the whole party thing....that's a pretty cold way to let a recent ex who still obviously has feelings for you find out that you are now in a new serious relationship that they had wanted with you. And we are supposed to be happy for Summer at the end. Seriously? I felt I had to see it again so I bought it. While I think it is a very entertaining film and very realistic as to what many people like myself...ahem I mean Tom have gone thru upon further review Summer really is a very self centered person....She tells Tom she doesn't want a serious relationship or a boyfriend but then betrays this with her actions. If she really wanted just a buddy or a friend with benefits booty call guy she shouldn't have been spending all this time with Tom, cuddling, telling him intimate things she's never told anyone, having sex in the shower and bed, coming to his apartment in the middle of the night after an argument, etc...I mean, even his co-workers who knew them both considered them a couple. Then when they finally are broken up and they run into each other at the wedding Tom essentially becomes her date for the night. They dance together and she falls asleep on his shoulder on the ride home. She invites him to a party and it turns out to be her engagement party...she fails to tell him she is now in a serious relationship....She tells Tom the whole time she doesn't want to date anyone and now within 3 months she is on her way down the aisle.....none of this is explained however....so the moral of this movie is if your a good looking woman with options you can use a guy as a social spare tire to hang out with and have sex with until someone better comes along...then marry them 3 months after meeting. Screw Summer and this movie. Don't worry Tom, this broad will probably be divorced in a couple years if not sooner like her parents.
